INTO ARIZONA

INTO ARIZONA

On the outskirts of Nogales
Between two lives and two worlds
I speculate and I ponder
‘bout how the future will unfurl

When this day turns from light to dusk
I place my life in a stranger’s hands
To lead me through the river beds dry
The burning desert and the scrublands

Along the narrow winding paths,
Which into the rocks by immigrants’ feet are worn
Past the guards at the golden gates
Their daggers are all drawn

Into Arizona
Into Arizona
Into Arizona
Into Arizona

Am I chasing a mirage
That one day might do me in?
Or will this journey set me free
And this ‘ll be the night where my dreams begin?

There is a world that I leave behind
There’s a field of broken dreams
My mind’s made up, I’ll take my chances
From tonight I’ll speak the language of the dollar green

Into Arizona
Into Arizona
Into Arizona
Into Arizona
